Right Start Academy utilizes age appropriate, education-based and age-based levels of curriculum designed to promote each child’s intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development. During the school year, the curriculum emphasizes more structured academics, where more recreation and socialization activities are emphasized during the summer months. Monthly academic units are established and divided into specific weekly thematic classroom activities and projects.

Academic Curriculum
As a kindergarten preparatory preschool, Right Start Academy is dedicated to providing students with the tools necessary for successful entrance into public or private grade school. To help assure this, RSA utilizes the Houghton Mifflin Curriculum for our academic program. The Houghton Mifflin curriculum is a hands-on, minds-on curriculum that is based on scientific research. Aligned with key Pre-K learning goals, it provides children with the foundational skills they need to succeed as lifelong learners. For more information about the Houghton Mifflin curriculum, visit http://www.eduplace.com/prek/index.html.

Physical Education Curriculum
Like adults, children need exercise too. According the American Heart Association, children ages 2 and up, should participate in at least 30 minutes of enjoyable, moderate-intensity physical activities every day that are developmentally appropriate and varied.

Physical fitness classes will be provided as part of the physical education curriculum. The SPARK PE curriculum is utilized at RSA. Five days per week, 30 minute PE classes are offered that help develop strength, flexibility, healthy minds and bodies. Providing group physical education classes will also help children develop team-building skills that will promote social development with peers. Teachers will create a safe, nurturing environment where children can work at their own pace.  All teachers are trained in our SPARK curriculum.
