Our Curriculum Programs

Right Start Academy utilizes age appropriate, education-based curricula designed to promote each child's intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development. During the school year, the curriculum emphasizes more structured academics, where more recreation and socialization activities are emphasized during the summer months. Monthly academic units are established and divided into specific weekly thematic classroom activities and projects.

Academic Curriculum

As a kindergarten preparatory preschool, Right Start Academy is dedicated to providing students with the tools necessary for successful entrance into public or private grade school. To help assure this, Right Start Academy utilizes the Houghton Mifflin Curriculum for our academic program. The Houghton Mifflin curriculum is a hands-on, minds-on curriculum that is based on scientific research. Aligned with key Pre-K learning goals, it provides children with the foundational skills needed to succeed as lifelong learners.

Physical Education Curriculum

Like adults, children need exercise too. According the American Heart Association, children ages 2 and up, should participate in at least 30 minutes of enjoyable, moderate-intensity, physical activities every day. The SPARK Early Childhood Curriculum is utilized at Right Start Academy weekly during the school day. At least two (2) days per week, 20-30 minute physical activity classes are provided to help develop strength, flexibility, healthy minds, and healthy bodies. Providing group physical activity classes helps develop the "whole" child in hopes to put Right Start Academy students on the right track to a healthy lifestyle.

Social-Emotional Curriculum

The Second Step early learning program teaches self-regulation and executive-function skills that help children learn skills to manage their feelings, make friends, and solve problems. Students of Right Start Academy are provided with bi-weekly lessons on a variety of topics. These topics are then reinforced throughout the month by the classroom teachers. Parents are also included as home link information detailing the focused topic for the month are emailed to parents.
